Jason X
(2002)

New Line Cinema made up for the horrible Jason Goes To Hell with this campy horror story with sci-fi overtones. As the movie begins, it seems that a scientific research center has been built over Crystal Lake. The center's main focus of research is, of course, Jason Vorhees. Jason soon escapes, only to be cryogenically frozen along with the head research scientist. Flash forward to the future when a class of history students on a field trip to Earth uncover Jason and the scientist. Before you know…

Friday the 13th Part 7 (VII): The New Blood
(1988)

Friday the 13th Part 7 (VII): The New Blood, although the story itself is different from other Friday the 13th movies and has a lot of potential, this movie still only immitates previous titles in the series. Jason Vorhees, still at the bottom of Crystal Lake, is released by a teenager with telekinetic abilities. Jason begins another killing spree, using everything from his trusty machete to a little plastic party horn. Finally, Friday the 13th Part 7 (VII): The New Blood comes to an unsatisfying…

Friday the 13th Part 3 (III)
(1982)

Friday the 13th Part 3 (III), picking up exactly where part two ended, Jason Vorhees continues his reign of bloodshed and terror in this 3-D installment of the Friday the 13th series. Yes, Friday the 13th Part 3 (III) was in 3-D, but Steve Miner (director) never really does anything with this effect (except the eyeball popping out at the screen). Also, Jason discards his worn old pillow case and sports a stylish hockey mask for the first time. Other than that, this is just a tired retread of the…

Friday the 13th Part 2 (II)
(1981)

Friday the 13th Part 2 is the sequel (directed by Steve Miner) and simply repeats the scenario of the original box office hit with only one exception; Jason Vorhees. His mother was the killer in the original, looking for revenge on the careless counselors who let her son die. Now, Jason has returned to get revenge for the decapitation of his mother. In Friday the 13th Part 2, kill scenes are nothing spectacular (some are repeated from the first), but Friday the 13th Part 2 still has a good amount…

Miner's Massacre
(2002)

Straight to video quickie about an evil miner who returns from the grave to murder anyone who dares to enter his claim and steal his gold. There's a short backstory that tells how the "Curse of the 49er" came about. Although this flick is not as bad as most, the miner is basically a carbon copy of Jason Vorhees, stalking around and killing teens with a pickaxe. There are a couple of once recognizable faces in this flick, but you should still skip it if you have something better to do.

Friday the 13th Part 8 (VIII): Jason Takes Manhattan

Friday the 13th Part 8 (VIII): Jason Takes Manhattan, the very idea of Jason going to New York sounds like this one might have something new, fresh, and slightly funny to add to the series, but it doesn't.
