House if the Dead is what you get when you take a great high paced action horror shooter game franchise and make a not so good movie script. A pretty good cast but it wasn't working in this movie. The story was okay but I didn't take to it. It had some good scenes but it wasn't enough for the overall movies success.

I bought this book (used) for my son 2 years ago. It isn't really a book, per se, but a 3-D, many-roomed, haunted house that stores neatly in book form. Open the book completely until the covers are back to back and you have a delightful, mysterious spooky mansion complete with trap doors, silly ghouls, mutant lizards, a basement full of sharks, etc. It is brilliantly illustrated and not so sinister that it will bring on the nightmares. Why do I have to stumble upon great films based on the work of H.P. Lovecraft almost by accident when they deserve a high place in the pantheon of horror cinema?
