The Possession: Details

Released: August 31, 2012
Summary: The Possession is based on true story events that happened and was actually posted in the Los Angeles Times. Writer Leslie Gornstein's article "A Jinx in a Box" first posted on this horror film. Director Ole Bornedal (Nightwatch) takes the story to new heights. A broken family becomes the victims of a supernatural entity from Jewish folklore. The Dibbuk is a demonic vile creature bent on bringing hell to the living. A young girl purchases an antique box at a yard sale. The girl become infatuated with the box. Her actions become increasingly scary as the horror movie progresses. The diabolic apparition soon gets the better of the young girl. The father learns that the relic is actually a holding cell for the disconnected soul of a deceased person who has been denied entry into the afterlife and needs a human host to inhabit. The father takes the battle to the demon spirit to get rid of the evil that seeks to consume her body and soul.
