Among Friends (2012) Horror Movie Review
Horror movies Review
Among Friends (2012) contain inappropriate scenes for kids, suggestion of sex acts that are not seen ( rape, screaming, mastubation, etc.), extreme disturbing gore factor, suspense, violence, bad language and lots of drug use. There is a lot of very sinister intense frightening, sitting on the edge of your seat scenes in this movie and it is due to the audience not knowing who is going to be attacked/killed next. I find this movie to be such a cliche because the storyline has been done so many times before and it is also similar to “Would You Rather” which was released on October 14, 2012 and “You’re Next”, released on August 23, 2013. It is an enjoyable watch with friends although it is a cliche.
Director Danielle Harris (Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D, Camp Dread, Ghost of Goodnight Lane) could of done a better job with this movie but then again she has to deal with what was written by Alyssa Lobit (The Victim, The Things We Carry, Crime and Consequences). Alyssa also acted in Among Friends and she did a phenomenal job playing Bernadette who is a psychiatrist and also serves as a jury, executioner and judge to her friends. I love that the movie shows that you cannot trust anyone because your dearest friends can be a cheating backstabber and lying to you without you knowing until you see photos to prove it.
All the actors did a fantastic job with their roles. I felt their emotions and could connect with them. I like how the director introduced each character individually as they went into the limo that was taking them to the killer 80’s theme dinner party. Everyone was having a great time with cocktails being served. The host (Bernadette) then announced that they are going to play a game (whodunit game) where every couple goes to a bedroom and looks for clues for the mystery that has to be solved. The fun and suspense now begins after the cocktails are finished being served. Everyone except Bernadette wakes up to find themselves being tied to their chairs. The hostess then shows everyone pictures and videos of present and past events which lead to pure goriness and [**] style torture. Basically everyone is causing everyone pain and suffering to settle and take revenge on the bad past and present events. Will things ever be the same between the group of six friends if they make it out alive from the dinner party?
There is no conclusion to this movie, the movie just ends abruptly - I think an ending would have made a difference and help this movie a great deal. I will not watch this movie again but I enjoyed watching it and would recommend it.
Synopsis:A group of friends get together for a murder mystery party, but things take a dark turn when one hijacks the evening and is out for blood.
