[ Movie Page: The Lords of Salem (2013) ] The Lords of Salem (2012)

My expression to the cover image of this movie was “WOW”. It was simple but yet terrifying scary. The artistic cover really suits the movie. The Lords of Salem (2012) contains disturbing violent scenes, graphic nude sexual content, goriness, bad language and some drug/alcohol use. There is a lot of intense frightening jump out of your seat scenes. I really do not recommend this movie to kids and young teeenagers, also to anyone with a weak stomach. The gore factor is stomach churning sick.

The horror movie is about a troubled female DJ who becomes intertwined with a coven of ancient witches in Salem, Massachusetts. Heidi Hawthorne (Sheri Moon Zombie - Halloween, The Devil’s Rejects, Toolbox Murders) is a recuperating heroin addict who works as a DJ with coworkers, Herman ‘Whitey’ Salvador (Jeff Daniel Phillips - The Last Duane, Burning Dog, Convict) and Herman "Munster" Jackson (Ken Foree - Death House, Sara’s Cell, Cut/Print) at a hard rock radio station. Heidi received an unusual wooden box with an album inside, titled “ Lords of Salem”. Heidi and Whitey listened to the record which contains a woman’s voice chanting an eerie mystifying chant. Heidi then started to have visions of a witch giving birth to a baby while the chant is playing and the visions stopped once the record stops playing. Heidi played the Lords of Salem record on the radio station and all the women in Salem, except Heidi went into a trance. Wondering what happens next - watch the movie and see.

The Lord if Salem is a nice watch and I recommend it to all horror fans. Brandon Trost outdid himself with the cinematography. The music was also really good and as I said the actors were amazing. I gave this movie an eight because I felt it could have elaborated a little bit more on the story line.

Rob Zombie (The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, Halloween II, Grindhouse) is the writer and director of The Lord of Salem. Rob gave himself one awesome last name (Zombie) for the horror movie genre. His birth name is Robert Bartleh Cummings. His wife is Sheri Moon Zombie and she stars in this movie as Heidi Hawthorne.
