Robocop (2014) Horror Movie Review
Horror movies Review[ Movie Page: Robocop (2014) ]
Robocop (2014) is a Sci-Fi thriller action film that is a remake of the 1987 hit movie Robocop (1987). I have seen the original Robocop but I do not remember anything much about the movie except that it was action based. I was happy for the remake and I enjoyed seeing the Robocop remake. It was more modern, clean, crisp and Robocop had a nice outfit/armor.
I have never seen any of Brazilian director Jose Padilha (Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, Secrets of the Tribe, Bus 174) movies and he has directed 8 movies so far but I will be looking forward to seeing more action packed movies from him. He really did an amazing job with Robocop. Robocop contains extreme violence with lots of gun use, gore, bad language, suspense, and intense frightening violent scenes. I did not expect and did not like the shaky hand camera scenes where the drones and Robocop were fighting. I felt like I was watching a Marvel film during some scenes in the movie. There was way too much well done computer generated (CGI) scenes, great scenes but a little overdone, but I still love the movie and will watch it again.
Robotic drones are supplied by multinational OmniCorp to take over the military duties overseas in the year 2028. OmniCorp CEO, Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton - Birdman, Clear History, Need for Speed) and Congress could not come to agreement so both decided to build a robot with a human conscience. Officer Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman - The Killing, Run All Night, Child 44) who is a father, husband and a cop was seriously injured in a car explosion. He was therefore used as the first Robocop to be built by Dr. Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Paranoia, The Dark Knight Rises). Murphy wants revenge on the people who nearly cost him his life and no one knows about him wanting the ultimate revenge. He wants revenge after learning that his son is traumatized from seeing the CCTV footage of his accident. I like the back story about the political views and the corporate greed and I feel that it was needed. Kinnaman did an astounding job incorporating his characters humanity and the technology of Robocop.
This remake has a better cast and is more family friendly than the original 1987 movie. Some of the great cast members in this movie are Jay Baruchel, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, James Earle Haley, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton.
Some Robocop fans might not like the remake and some might like the remake so basically either you do or do not. I would recommend for everyone to give it a try.
