Review of Heat Guy J: Complete Collection, Vol. 1-7

Heat Guy is a great piece of Anime. Similar to Ghost in the Shells' endearing question, can machines generate emotion? The show starts off with two partners being one human partner and one android partner. Heat Guy shows as much care for his weaker partner as two human partners would show for each other. As the story progresses it gets richer and deeper in both scope and range. You see how a future city sustains itself with a super brain race known as the Celestials who maintain it. The main human character is half Celestial and half human and witnessed the horrible murder of his father. He was himself saved from joining his father in death by his older brother. Other characters join the fray like my favorite Bolma. I know, it sounds like the girl from Dragon Ball series but this guy is a true badass. Bolma is an ex-con that broke out of jail but has turned a new leaf. In the future any convicted felon sentenced for more then a hundred years has to undergo a mutant genetic alteration. Basically they change their head into that of a beast in order for the criminal to feel their sentence even more to make up for their short life span compared to their long sentence. Well Bolma has a head of a wolf equipped with howls and all. He is also a great martial arts expert with a sword and had his speed and strength illegally mutated and altered. Story comes together real well with a great ending. Action scenes are off the hook and mixed with a new type of animation as well as the well known style. Trust me, this is a must see even for one like me who gets bored real quick.

    Icehorse1000 opinion

This is a really good anime. If you like Batman than you will like this one. I saw alot of truth in this anime "like christian spirtually battle and etc" I don't if the person who created this anime attended it for this or just for entertain but I noticed it any way. but beside this point I liked that it also gave words of wisdom through every episode and then the very last episode it was all put into action at the time when all hope seems lost. Like the end of Lord of the Rings "almost in a way.

    My Man Jay

Heat Guy Jay is science fiction anime which takes place in a fictional city called, Judo which looks a bit like New York City with it's congested traffic, tall skyscrapers and slum sections. Lots of strange events take place in Judo, from a mafia war, to corrupt politicians, a werewolf creature and assassin androids. Crime would certainly run rampant if it were not for the good guys stopping it. There is a young detective named, Daisuke (pronounced dice-kee) who looks like a thin, blonde boy and a slacker. He has a powerful android for a partner named, "J" who has the ability to hack into computer systems and open city-wide data files for investigations. With Daisuke's investigative skills and "J's" power they work in a private organazation that tries to control crimes and solve mysterious events which cops can't solve. Though, Daisuke looks like a slacker, he is actually a very smart character and very friendly with the local population which helps him with tip-offs and leads; and when things get dangerous he can shoot it out with the best of them, as he is an excellent shooter. His android partner "J" looks like an old man with a pony-tail, whose design I didn't like at all. "J" can be a bit boring because he talks like a machine without emotions, but often times says wise things. I loved the pacing of this anime, it lets you enjoy the wonderful scenery and great background music which accompanies it. It has a laid back feel most of the times, but can suddenly get intense with surprises in the show and the action sequences are great! Daisuke is the main character here and we get to follow him along as he investigates and gradually discovers solutions, which makes it feel immersive. The animation is fluid and the artwork is beautiful combining 2D with CGI bits scattered through out. The music is excellent and fits the events on screen perfectly. By the end of the series you will know the city of, Judo as if you lived there yourself and even get to see the "underworld". This anime series is episodic in nature, but also contain a few story arcs and re-occuring characters. I loved this show and would recommend it to anyone that likes action/sci-fi anime. I also recommend the anime called, Gunslinger Girl.
