  • JOHN CARPENTER PRESENTS VAMPIRES: LOS MUERTOS is the terrifying sequel to the horror hit John Carpenter's Vampires. Tough-as-nails vampire hunter Derek Bliss (Jon Bon Jovi U-571) is on the hunt for "suckers" in the heart of Mexico when he receives a new assignment from a mysterious client. Thrown together with a group of slayers including sexy Zooey who may or may not be one of the undead Derek and company are up against a growing number of fast-moving bloodthirsty vampires and their elusive and powerful leader who has plans of her own for the slayers.System Requirements:Running Time: 104 Min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE Rating: R UPC: 043396078239 Manufacturer No: 07823
    Product Description
  • Jon Bon Jovi stars in this trashy but pretty entertaining horror flick. Vampires: Los Muertos centers on vampire hunter-for-hire Derek Bliss (Bon Jovi), who gets bounties from the likes of the "Van Helsing Group" for every bloodsucker he destroys. When a new client hires him to hunt down a particularly powerful vampire queen in Mexico, he reluctantly starts to form a team--only to discover that all his potential posse members have just been killed. But soon he gathers a haphazard crew (including Diego Luna from Y Tu Mama Tambien and Natasha Wagner from Lost Highway) and sets off across the hot Mexican landscape. Vampires: Los Muertos has some gaps in logic, but it's pretty lean and spry--in the first 10 minutes, the vampire queen has already bitten off someone's tongue--and it has enough cheap eye candy to be a satisfying low-budget flick. --Bret Fetzer

    Tame Vampire Fare

This is a sequel to John Carpenter's Vampires, a minor hit that saw pilgrim director Carpenter return to form and break the cliches of vampire films. This is not bad and not good either, as they changed the whole film from its initial release- they sold out and started marketing it at African Americans. It did have a lot of nudity and gore and was kind of suspenseful, but this sequel just serves to put yet another American vampire film on the shelves. Check out the 1998 original Vampires by John Carpenter to get a good look at American religion breaking the cliches.

    Vampires - Los Muertos

Vampires-Los Muertos was quite an entertaining movie in my opinion. OK, so it wasnt on the same level as Vampires with James woods but Jon Bon Jovi did a good job playing the vampire slayer. Im a huge fan of Vampire flicks and I have to admit that the acting in this movie wasnt as good as the first but still a decent Vampire flick nevertheless. Interview with a Vampire is my all time Fav.

    power suck

i didn't even see this movie and I know it sucks. All that I had to see was Bon Jovi and I threw the video to the ground as hard as i could muster at the video store where i was promptly kicked out. It was worth it though, it actually was offensive that such a thing could exist. The vampire genre could be so awesome and yet very few films live up to its potential. I guess it also lends itself to complete drivle such as "Vampires - Los Muertos".

    Mexican Bat Dance

Right off the bat you realize that Jon Bon Jovi is no James Woods. Jon is a vampire slayer and works alone (unlike the teams in the first movie). He is essentially a bounty hunter who only handles vampires. Now he has a big new job but the client insists he puts together a team. This is easier than it sounds as slayers are being killed all over the place. A tough new master vampire is making things tough. Jon also meets someone who is infected but has not turned due to an experimental drug. The hope is the drug will continue working until a true cure is found.

The contact takes Jon and his new team to Mexico where it is soon learned that the new vampire master is looking for the Black Cross so that she can walk in the daylight. But is the Cross the only way this can be possible? Some old ruins turn out to be the site of the final showdown and the revelations. We learn the motives for many of the characters including the one who hired the team.

Although the tone of this film is much different from the first, the story is fairly consistent with the first film. When vampires are killed they need to be beheaded and we see the same winch technique used in the first film. We really don't get a sense for the bounty hunting end of things other than that Jon has an agent of some sort and that apparently enough people accept vampires as real so they don't need to work under the Church or any other organization. If you are looking for the edginess of the first film you will not find it here even if the rest of the film is quite entertaining.
