(1963) (English Speaking Version) Christopher Lee, George Riviere, Rossana Podesta, directed by Antonio Margheriti. A wonderful, atmospheric horror film. A beautiful lady finds herself completely terrified inside her hubby’s creepy, crumbling castle. There’s a monster afoot! It seems the ghost of a medieval torture maniac called “The Punisher” is on the loose and killing off people in a variety of grisly ways. The “rat-eating-the-girls-face” scene is a real eye-opening shocker. Turn your head when the Punisher is unmasked; this is one of the scariest makeup jobs we’ve seen in some time. Lee is great as the scar-faced curator. Highly recommended. Nice color. 16mm.
