The Outing aka The Lamp 1986 Horror Movie Review

basically, these stupid kids go into a museum to party and awaken this 3,000 year old evil genie. the bad mo’facker ends up mutilating everyone for… reasons unknown. just because he is one bad mo’facker i guess.



not really that scary. theres not too much gore. although one guy is ripped in half off-screen, so all you see is his torso on top of his legs. 2 others are bitten by snakes that arent really menacing, so they die…....
there was a scene in which a black girl is getting raped by two white guys in silly masks and tiny tight underwear, so that was un-called for. you get to see girl-parts and wang too for like, 2 seconds, not even.
yes i rewound the tape to make sure…okay i did it 3 times. i had to be positive.



the genie himself is sort of scary. looks like the gargoyle from one of those Tales From the Darkside flicks.
too bad those kids didnt have Aladdin: Return of Jafar to help them destroy the genie faster. the last surviving girl ended up burning the lamp and thus ending the bad mo’fackers not-so-bloody reign of terror, 9 dead bodies later of course.
after watching this movie, i understand why they tried so hard with the catchy phrases and scary picture on the cover.  (“its no picnic…..dont say see you later, say goodbye…....theyre not coming back”)



oh yeah, and props to the 80s horror movie tit.
