ok i know its about a shark the terrorizes the good folk of amity island but could it not be classed as a horror movie in away i mean a big shark i hear it was an 18 rated film when it first came out or an R rated film for u in the usa i defenatly rate this film as a horror scifi classic

Reasonably scary and masterfully designed Spielberg horror.

wow, you reviewers must all be like 16. this movie is horror. it set the precedent for all "blockbuster" films and created the summer film as we know it. effects are a little dated, but the tension and acting as well as direction are top notch. i watch this every 4th of july.

One of the greatest old movies I've ever seen! Speilberg did a fantastic job, I wish his newer films were as good today as "Jaws" was back then!

I really liked this movie too. I have to say that it had a pretty interesting story too it, and I think that it should be classified in the horror genre. I had to laff at how jaws moves and such though
