Review of The People Under The Stairs

  • Wes Craven, the director of The Serpent and the Rainbow and Shocker, locks you inside the most terrifying house on the street. Trapped inside a fortified home owned by a mysterious couple, a young boy is suddenly thrust into a nightmare. The boy quickly learns the true nature of the house's homicidal inhabitants and the secret creatures hidden deep within the house. Stunning visuals highlight this inventive film that the San Francisco Chronicle calls "Wes Craven's most satisfying movie."

I found the storyline to be truly orignal and horific as it makes you think about how well you actually know you neighbours, not in terms of murdering psychopaths but in terms of child abuse. This is definately a brilliant film and great performance by Brandon Adams. And to the person who asked my there faces were white, its because of the lack of sunlight. no sunlight-no complection, and the zombie like faces are a result of malnutrition and light fatigue.

This movie is good. The acting was great. If the plot were just a little bit more serious than I think the movie would've done better....Wendy Robie and Everett McGill were great as the married couple who were in fact brother and sister. Makes me think back to Twin Peaks!!
