Classics of Horror Collection 2003 Horror Movie Review
Horror movies Review
This ALPHA VIDEO horror movie quad-pack had the potential to be an interesting item, however all it amounts to is a shelf space waster of four unrestored public domainers that are readily available in more compact form. Two of these titles are quite good and the others… oh boy!
ATOM AGE VAMPIRE is NOT the 2009 remake (no surprise!) but is in fact the laughable 1960 spaghetti frighter about a Jekyll/Hyde scientist who falls in love with a woman disfigured in a car wreck. The Doc transforms into a beast and kills girls to get the glands necessary to keep his lady looking beautiful. Really dumb stuff!
BEAST FROM THE HAUNTED CAVE is a cheesy Roger Corman throwaway with a self-explanatory title and a stupid-looking monster.
George Romero’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is a cult classic, a zombie flick made on a nickel that’s beloved by millions. A very effective b&w low budget work.
CARNIVAL OF SOULS also enjoys special status. This lone Herk Harvey picture is about a girl who survives an auto plunge off a bridge that drowned her three friends. The traumatic event leaves her with visions of demons. She travels to Utah and discovers the truth and her fate in a creepy shut down amusement arcade. It’s classic and the best of this lot!
Parenthetical numbers preceding titles are 1 to 10 imdb viewer poll ratings.
