    Product Description
  • This follow-up to Warlock boasts more sophisticated visual effects, slicker production values, and bigger (and bloodier) action, but fans of the original's dry wit and tight story may be disappointed. It's really more a rehash than a sequel. The Devil is up to his old tricks again, sending his favorite son (the title character) on a mission to recover six runes--ancient stones that will allow His Satanic Majesty to escape Hell and once again walk the Earth. Leading the forces of good are a group of modern-day druids and a pair of teenage lovers who have no idea they've been selected to save the world. There are some genuinely spooky moments, a few laughs, and some nice visual touches, but the scattershot script keeps throwing out one cool idea after another, hoping something sticks. On the other hand, if watching Julian Sands writhe on the ground spewing black blood sounds like a good time, this may be just the ticket. Gremlins star Zach Galligan has a cameo (as the boyfriend of the Warlock's mom!) --Geof Miller

Another movie I should have walked out on.

I think this movie is where I started to walk out on movies I didn't like.
I still can't believe I made it from start to finish with this movie.
The main warlock guy is a good actor, why he wasted his time with this b movie trash is beyond me.
The rest of the actors are just plain bad.
The fx are laughable, even back then, they just weren't that good.
The only cool part is where Satan comes out of the pit and even that looked so phony!!!!!
I think this movie was in the theaters for about a week and it got yanked because no one would watch it.
    I wish I hadn't.
The gore was so excessive, I'm sorry but I remember the "explosion" in the elevator......YUCK!!!!
The story stunk, the fx stunk, the acting except for the "star" stunk.
I'd put this movie in my top ten worst movies any day of the week.
    AVOID!!!

    The original goth sequel

Warlock 2 is the original campy 90's Goth Sequel that I was glad Julian Sands signed on for. I couldn't wait to find and add this DVD into my library just because of him and also because of the sheer joy of watching this campy movie over and over again. Watch Warlock and then pop in the sequel to get it. Great Gothy Fun to Watch!

    A solid effort for a B-horror movie

"Warlock: The Armageddon" was directed by Anthony Hickox, who, at the time, was on a roll producing a slew of cheesy, but fun B-horror films. "Warlock" is no exception, with an appropriately fun, over-the-top performance by Julian Sands as the Warlock, with a forgettable-yet-somehow-familiar supporting cast. For this sequel, new composer Mark McKenzie took the musical reins from Jerry Goldsmith, and his second feature film effort is an entertaining venture into fantasy with horror overtones.

Mark McKenzie's treatment of the film of more as a fantasy than a hard-core horror movie is appropriate, as the character story between the two young Druid Warriors takes a prominent frontal role in the film. The Druid theme is heroic and beautiful, with a touch of wonder and innocence, taking a cue from John William's Force theme to represent the protagonists. This theme is repeated throughout the score, and these melodic performances truly make the album.

However, this is a movie about the rise of Satan's son, and thus the main titles rise with a dark choral piece written in Latin for the Catholic Mass. The Warlock's theme is dark, imposing, and perhaps a little spooky, but not overly so... and it's melodic enough to make for a fun listen. In fact, our ears never suffer the loud screeches of string and percussive crashes that plague many horror scores, as McKenzie keeps the score harmonic throughout. The album wraps up with a nice suite of all the main themes from the score.

Overall, the score is an entertaining and pleasant listen. The sound quality is average, but not great on this recording, but the quality of the music makes up for it, especially the performances of the heroic Druid theme. The track "Ken's Magic" features perhaps the best performance of this theme, and this track alone, along with the performances in the main titles, make the album worth checking out.

    Wacky Magic Fun

I really enjoyed this movie. It's goofy and the Druids vs. the Warlock history is a bit silly but overall quite enjoyable. It has better pacing than the first film and seems less disjointed even though the Warlock's search for the runestones is told in a series of little vignette's. Some of the "druid training" scenes are quite beautiful with very creative direction to attain subtle effects which nicely contrast the Warlock's macabre magic.

As I said before the story is a little silly but I liked it better than the witch-hunter sent through time story of the first film and the forgettable kids in a haunted house approach of the third.

    ANTHONY HICKOX DOES IT AGAIN!

Warlock:The Armageddon is an enjoyable watch. I bought this DVD because 1.Anthony Hickox directed it. 2.Monika Schnarre has a small part in it. I hadn't seen it before when I purchased this film, but I enjoyed it. I love what Anthony Hickox did with this sequel. The special effects, a good cast. I love Paula Marshall (from 'Hellrasier 3)- what a talented and likeable actress. I got a thrill seeing Monika Schnarre again in a small part as a runway model.

I hope that anthony Hickox would make more films like this.
