Review of Queen of the Damned (Full Screen Edition)
- After years of slumber, the legendary vampire has awakened and found acceptance in a tattooed, pierced and black-clad world. He's a rock star. And his awesome punk-chic sound has echoed around the globe...and stirred to life the fearsome Mother of All Vampires. Based on "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice, whose work previously came to the screen in "Interview with the Vampire."

vampires' saga
From Ane Rice's Books this is one of those that went to film. A good novel and a good movie

One of My Favorites.
This is one of my favorite movies. I really like the songs and I think the actors did a pretty good job. I love Aaliyah, God rest her soul and I think she did a pretty good job for an inexperienced actress. She could have gone far. I liked the way the story of Lestat went and how cocky he got. I would recommend this movie to vampire movie lovers.

UNWATCHABLE
I really couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of this movie. The acting was so bad. I can't really tell you more about this movie because I watched very little of it. I will tell you this I did sit through BloodRayne and that was a bad movie too!

Thoroughly enjoyed it
What alarmingly bad press--it kept me at a distance, till I finally caught this on cable a few months ago. I was reasonably impressed, and as I said, enjoyed it thoroughly. Of course I have a soft spot for vampires. In the past, I read all the Vampire Chronicles (in fact, almost all of Anne's work). At the time, I recall struggling with the concept of Lestat as a rock star. It seemed very gimmicky, but it's believably handled in this adaptation, which as others have stated, is derived from both The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. Please, don't be put off by how literal an adaptation this is--that is nearly irrelevant in the world of cinema. Jane Austen fanatics pull their hair out over such things (Mansfield Park is a fine example). Don't be that way. Give it a chance to breathe on its own. You might be pleasantly surprised, as I was.
