Reptilian (2001) Horror Movie Review
Horror movies Review
When I saw that this was a remake of “Yongary” I was thrilled. Hoping to watch a good monster movie but was disappointed. The acting in this film is far worse than the Godzilla or Gamera films of the sixties and seventies. The movie starts as a team lead by a paleontogist search a cavern for who knows what, finding several dino skeletons the scientist points saying “Over there” to another chamber containing a glowing obelisk. It became worse from that point on. Elements of Government cover ups regarding extraterrestrials, a 200 million year old monster tearing through a city, the threat of an alien invasion, soldiers flying about with jet packs and really bad puns make up the entire film.
The worst line in the film came from one of the jet pack wearing soldiers which is in the trailer. Quote-“Compared to this guy, Godzilla is a [**]!”
What could have been a great film but simply isn’t. The best line in the film was when the aliens were leaving-“Let’s leave before Yongary realizes his true power.” I take it as meaning an even worse sequel.
The film maker should apologize for this film.
I will be nice and give it 2 stars as the visual effects are fairly good but that’s all that’s good.
Don’t expect a good monster film in “Reptilian”. A much better monster film from South Korea is “The Host” which I do recommend.
