Description
- Blow mad killer Jason Voorhees to smithereens in the opening sequence of the movie? Sorry, folks, you have to do better than that. Jason's evil spirit finds its way into a series of host bodies, thus continuing the carnage at Crystal Lake, in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Naturally, part 9 is not the final Friday the 13th movie (no big deal: part 4, you'll recall, was titled The Final Chapter). Jason confronts a long-lost sister at the lake, while the usual assortment of naked teens are dispatched. This one tries to vary the formula a bit but ends up with a story line every bit as nonsensical as those that came before. The final sequence tries to put Jason away for keeps and calls upon the demons of hell for support. The last shot is an outrageous joke, which is perhaps what this franchise deserves. --Robert Horton

Jason is finally done???
Nope, Hollyweird decided to inflict Jason X on us, which I have never seen.
This one started out good.
The military finally wise up and send in an elite team to tackle the freak.
By now the body count from the series must be around 1000 people.
What took the government so long to act?
Anyway, a great beginning.
The movie goes downhill fast after that.
Bad acting, bad script and Freddy's claw at the end?
Absurd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A dreadful ending to a dreadful series.
If your new the this series, go with the original and part two. Maybe part seven if your in the mood for a good laugh.
Otherwise............
AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!

Just when you thought it was safe to watch sequels again!!
When you think JASON is dead surprise he's back...Jumping from body to body.
Only from a VOORHEES can he live or die.
I gotta say the idea is original, but the idea in general is stupid.
The invasion of JASON VOORHEES, the boy has died every way imaginable.
So let him rest in peace!!
I rate this movie a 7 from 1to10!!

An Underappreciated Horror Movie
"Jason Goes to Hell" is a great entry into the series and isn't the same story that had been played seven movies before it where Jason kills people who go to Crystal Lake. This movie has things that any horror fan would love; melting people and tons of killing. No, it doesn't have much of "Jason" as you know him-but it is the same character. That is the difference between this and the fifth movie, this is actually still Jason, even though he is in different bodies.
Watching this and seeing the Necronomicon from the Evil Dead series appear on the film makes me sad that Ash won't be in the next Freddy vs. Jason movie. It would be a great intro into the next film, just like Freddy's hand was a prelude to FvJ.
Overall, I loved it. I saw this movie as a kid and just watched it again and I thought it was great. It has great special effects and an interesting story that is a change of pace. So, it depends on what you like. If you watch the movie just to see a hockey mask killer, then you won't like it that much. But if you like something different, this will be for you. But what you have to remember, it is still Jason that is the killer. Halloween III didn't have Michael in it in any way, shape or form. So, there is no comparison.

An Original "Friday" for It's Time. (Unrated)
Fangoria said...This has the mose incredible ending we've ever seen. For the time period they were probably right as far as The "Friday" series goes. With the lackluster and lame "a new beginning", the nearly awful Jason Takes Manhattan and The "Space Epic" of Jason X this movie has both the humor and the gore and effects all in the right amount. Yeah Jason is jumping bodies but it's still him, so he's still in the whole movie. Kane Hodder playing Jason as only he can. If your not a huge "Friday" fan this is one of the ones to see. Do yourself a favor and stick to the "unrated" version and you've even got Kane Hodder playing a "security guard" and the extra's include a really good commentary by the director and screenwriter. You've even got a Cameo appearance of L.A.'s famous KLOS Morning DJ's Mark and Brian and cops. Of all the "friday's" this is one of the ones I enjoy watching more often then the others. I'd rank it up there with "The New Blood", "The Final Chapter" and "Jason Lives". The entertainment value is in the fact the movie doesn't take itself so seriously. It has great "momments" even if it doesn't succeed as a whole.
Take it for what it is an 80's style slasher flick.
