Look Both Ways

Today I crossed the street of life.
The cars seemed to buzz right by.
I took a deep breath,
And looked both ways.
Through I was not to careful,
And got hit along the way.
Now my mother has told me,
Now look for cars,
When you look both ways.
My only response was,
Ohhhh..................
Do you get the joke? She looked both ways, but not for a car!
