Review of Final Fantasy 8 (VIII)
After playing through FFVII I was thirsting for more, and luckily FFVIII did not disappoint. From the graphics to story, sound, and game play this game is a sight to behold. The graphics were vastly improved from FFVII. The characters are not blocky and cartoon like. They have a realistic look to them. The FMV cut scenes have higher quality also. The storyline has taken more of a love theme then previous FF titles. The story revolves around a young man named Squall. He is a military student recently promoted to S.E.E.D., and organization of mercenaries for higher. He and his fellow SEEDS must join the daughter of a rebellious politician to take down the Evil Sorceress Edea who is in control of the Galbadian army. The rebel Rinoa and Squall fail their mission but this is where the story really gets good so I won’t give anymore away.
The soundtrack was superb and well orchestrated. It definitely set the mood off perfectly. The sound effects were also outstanding.
The battle system was exceptional. I loved the way they used the Summons as your source of strength and abilities. The new card game was also nice distraction. I had a lot of fun playing everyone from all over in a game of triple triad. Final Fantasy VIII was an honest privilege to play and I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did as well, definitely worth checking out.
