Heroes of Might and Magic are one of my favorite franchises and actually the first real time strategy (RTS) game I played and was forever hooked. This installment is much better than the horrible Heroes of Might and Magic IV (4). Ubisoft has taken hold of the franchise and is doing well. Kept in the mix are the turn based movement, fast battles and role player game (RPG) leveling. Now we come to level design, and this is where developer Nival Interactive fell short. Some levels are dull and some missions drag on for long periods without fun. Take for instance the first mission, it was like a long tutorial and can take a couple hours to complete. The non-campaign missions are few unlike in previous versions they were the cream on top and kept replay ability alive. I am happy to see that one of my all time favorite RTS games will still be around after 3DO went under.
