Review of Breakdown

Breakdown is finally out after being Microsoft’s XBOX premier spot on 2002’s E3. Breakdown puts you in first-person prospective to fully immerse you into the action. You play as Derrick Cole you just basically rocks in the kick-ass degree department. The game flows extremely well with you bashing at your foes without even having to wait for one loading or menu screen pop up, courtesy of in-game loads. Whether you’re getting punched and experiencing vision distortions or if you are on the run and begin to breathe heavily, you start to become attuned to your character.

One big draw of the game is being able to knock someone across the room, or being on the receiving end of a knock across the room. It’ll just leave you saying “OHH Snap.” The immersive ness into the game will pull you into the slightest details in a way in which you will begin to understand Derrick’s reach. Even though you can perform terrific acrobatic feats, the lock-on system works perfectly. While in combat with guns, you need to conserve ammo. The biggest problem I would say would be when you are in a situation where you are between multiple enemies.

Breakdown allows you to experience in-game hallucinations (plus whatever hallucination state you’re playing in) plus knock out cool power-ups. However, this game had great potential and just leaves you feeling like any other Deus-Ex-lite experience. Still worth the play however, there’s always BlockBuster.
