Review of Resident Evil: Outbreak
Look out net, the virus has spread out of Raccoon City and it is infecting those online. The game has been a little altered in order to bring the full teamwork aspect out. Instead of you against the zombies, it's you and three other characters at your side against the internet zombies. Zombies can crash through windows to get you truly shocked and terrified.
Teamwork is a major cornerstone in this installment of Resident Evil. Things like jumping from one rooftop to another but misjudging the distance makes you slip, it's always good to have a teammate who can always give you a hand. Before the game even starts you may find yourself planning tactics because each of the eight playable characters has their unique abilities that may help your team out. You can bring a lock picker, a character with extra space in their inventory or you can link up with a weapons expert to blow those zombies away.
New features like zombies being able to move from room to room in order to swarm the team are pretty good as well. Due to this increase in the AI, Capcom included a handful of new techniques for you true survivors out there. You can hide under beds or lockers, you can even stop a zombie attack by forcing the zombie mouth away from your neck so that you can bring the pistol up and put a new breathing hole between their eyes. Another new feature is that when you have two clips that are half full; just turn them into one full clip so that you will spend less time reloading and more time creaming those suckers.
This game has its drawbacks though. Instead of one full quest, the game is broken into five scenarios that are all 45 minutes each. If you die, you can turn into a zombie for a brief time and attack your former teammates for the heck of it until you are dropped out of the game. You will then have to wait until your friends finish up or find another game to enter. I think that voice chat would have been great for this game but it isn't included.
