Cant take over something that is pretty much destroyed. The poles will take around 100 years to shift that means TERRIBLE weather which will just be worse every year untill the poles are done shifting. Then your new children , with new spirits (i think) will live on the earth with no knowledge about this era. They will live as they did on the time of Abraham.

Ok i can buy that. If not someone interfare with it so the barrier breaks then you would survive the bad luck. However could you stand and watch everyone you love die from diseases, bad lucks, animals and weather?
