I, too, am curious about this subject. I hope we get answers =) I assume it would be painful, but what do I know?

Depends how painful it would be. Im interested in both Vampire and Werewolf answers. Or if there happens to be more choices (wishful thinking) i'd like to hear about that as well.

I saw Vampire Diaries last week, yes I watch it  but rather True Blood, they video taped the first change of a werewolf and it took 4+ hours of pain and there hardly was a change.
Perhaps our werewolf friends can shed some light here.
