For the past I would definitely have to say The Exorcist (1973). Plain creepy and the top of my list of all time greatest.
For the present I liked Trick or Treat (2009). It reminded me of the good old days when there was a little curiousity in what may happen on Halloween before you get older and become a little more hardened because of life.
For the future I would like to see A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). I grew up with this franchise and love it up to now. “For the LOVE of Horror!”

I love too many horror movies to just pick one favorite, but one that I love is a made for TV movie from the 70's called Trilogy Of Terror. Karen Black plays the lead in three different stories, my favorite being the last one called "Amelia" about a Zuni Fetish doll she buys for her boyfriend that comes to life and terrorizes her.
I saw that when it first aired as a kid, and the end of that story scared me so bad the first time I saw it I literally ran screaming out of the house. Be great if I could get scared like that by a movie today, lol.
If you ever get a chance to see it, you should. I found a copy on E-Bay a few years back and it stands the test of time well.
As far as upcoming horror, I also want to see the new Nightmare on Elm Street. There's a re-make of another great 70's made for TV movie, Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark, coming up with Katie Holmes playing Kim Darbys role. That should be good too.

Gonna put that on my list to watch when I free up some time.
Something about Katie Holmes just gets me. Gonna look out for that too. “For the LOVE of Horror!”

My favorite horror movie has to be The Exorcist. It is creepy good fun. I watched The Exorcism of Emily Rose with Jennifer Carpenter ans it was too nightmarish. She reminded me of Linda Blair, I was having flashbacks while watching her bend and contort into all kinds of positions. Anything having to do with demonic possession sends me through a loop!!!!
