True, but i still think he was a madman. The god of magic would not give out the power of immortality to the one who torture people.

He was not mad. He was brilliant. And he did not torture... In a sense at least. Are you aware during his reign as Lord of Transylvania, the crime rate was less than 1% of ours? He had even gone so far as to leave a pure gold cup out for people to drink from, and it was never stolen. He was a brilliant leader, he may have had inhumane ways of controlling the people and stopping the crime rate, but you can't really argue with results.

The means was merely punishing criminals. But it was public and horrific. So that everyone knew what would happen if they commit their own crimes. He did not harm a single innocent.
