Horror Business follows Jason Nightshade, whose twin brother disappeared a year prior. As more children begin to disappear, he becomes haunted by a ghost that impedes his blossoming love with a neighbor girl and the progress of the movie he’s shooting, eventually forcing him into coming to terms with his brother’s death.
As the title suggests, it’s a spooky book, but it’s not genre fiction; There are also elements of romance and humor (think Brett Easton Ellis’ Lunar Park). It’s also a love letter to the B-grade horror films that I grew up with. Apart from providing shout-outs that horror afficianados will enjoy, it’s also a break-down of the horror genre.
