Review of The Infinite Day (The Lamb among the Stars)

After the defeat of the evil Dominion forces at Farholme, Commander Merral D'Avanos prepares a task force to rescue 30 hostages captured by the fleeing Margrave Lezaroth. Merral's only hope is that he can get to the hostages before they're taken to Lord-Emperor Nezhuala at the Blade of Night--the heart of the evil Dominion worlds. But in order to get there, Merral and his crew will have to survive a perilous trip through Below-Space. Meanwhile, news of the Dominion's defeat at Farholme reaches Earth but is tempered by the sobering truth of the enemy's growth and strength. It is now clear that an attack on the Assembly is imminent, but how far should the Assembly go to stop it? And does the real danger lie in the Dominion, or within the Assembly itself?

    A Welcome Surprise

The whole series, and the last novel in the trilogy, was much more thought provoking and overall interesting than I expected. The comments about a modern version of cs lewis are spot on. Well worth the read.

    Good story, BUT...

...the Kindle version is misformatted in such a way that you can't read the end of the book on either my ipod or android tablet. The last few paragraphs refuse to display. Very frustrating.

    Religious propaganda

I thought I was reading science fiction not another Christian fairy tale in the likes of Narnia and the Left Behind
series. The first two books are pretty good and the author writes well. The third book bogged down in the middle.
Too much moral theorizing. The sappy ending ruined the time I spent reading the whole series. The series
should be named wolf in sheep clothing not the lamb among the stars. This is not science fiction. It's Rapture,
End Times,Millennial Kingdom silly Christian propaganda.

Great read, well thought out story, themes kept my attention

I bought this series in an after Christmas sale(2009) and finished the last one a few months ago. I really liked Chris' books, style, and his theme, "what if people had figured out a way to live without sin of any kind for many generations expanding to many worlds to the far reaches of the universe? And then evil, from the Dominion Emperor (devil's relm & hell) begins to be re-introduced as an opposing force into this sin-less culture? What would be the social, moral, and faith challenges of these naive people and their culture who knew no sin?" A great read and story filled with heros and villains that become fully developed across all three books of the series. Both sides (faith-filled/demon possessed) are well presented in all three books, but the opening scenes of a demon possessed man set on world conquest through help of the devil in the 2nd book creates an entirely new standard for hell's long standing dark imagery.

And the imagery and actions of the Lord's strength in times of trouble, was handled in a way I've never seen done before outside of the Bible itself. No where have I seen so many mini stories within a larger saga explore the many viewpoints, tying faith challenges to integrity, loyalty, relationships, family ties, friendships and community morals as this 3 book series. As the hero, Merral and his side-kick Vero, and their girlfriends move from one evil challenge to the next discovering new and fantastic ways to fight the onslaught of evils menacing influence my faith grew along with the story's characters. I began to see the truth of the messages and the actions that are taken as being divinely anointed. I think Chris has set a new contemporary image for me with his story themes of how people either resist the evil influence with the help of the LORD ALMIGHTY or fall prey to the devils influence in very suttle ways taking entire communities down with them.

I highly recommend the entire 3 book series and applaud Chris for sharing the strength of his faith and convictions in these forward thinking books. I for one Chris, get your books and what you were saying in them. And the messages are indeed along the high brow lines of C.S. Lewis, but in a MUCH more palatable and theme rich story form for the worlds readers. Well done my faith brother!

    WHAT A GREAT SERIES!!!

I started this series with the free Kindle download of "The Shadow and Night" and got hooked. I just finished the last of the three books and wanted to add my praise to the reviews other people have written. This series is full of hope, praise for our Creator, and gives us an idea of how we could live constantly aware of the blessings He gives us even though we do not deserve them. It is so encouraging to see the totally believable characters struggle with the same doubts and fears Christians live with daily and in their struggle finally come to the conclusion that God is in control and their only response is to serve Him. I found these books very inspiring. Thank you Amazon for the free download and for offering the other two books at a good price.
